Post Olympics Depression Disorder

Well - what did take over the UK in the past couple of weeks? Olympic Fever! I am normally someone to turn off, or over, when sport appears on TV. The only part of the Beijing Olympics I watched was actually the Opening Ceremony, as I knew there would be a Yoga demonstration and I loved the larger than life model with the Chakras beaming out to the world :-)

So what came over me and the rest of Great Britain in 2012? Pride in our country? our culture? our Amazing Olympian athletes? I was hooked from the moment the Opening Ceremony began! I loved sharing the ups and downs and success and failures of Team GB, and greatly admired their tenacity, determination, motivation, attitude - exemplary!

Team GB have inspired us, brought the reserved British public out of their shells, encouraged them to express long held in emotions, joined people back together into Community that has long been missing from our world, and uplifted us all en masse :-)
Its not surprising we all felt bereft and empty when the games drew to a close :-(

No wonder a new phrase, a new mental health condition has been coined - Post Olympic Depression disorder - thats how we all feel now :-(

I want to say a big Thank You to Team GB and all the world Olympians who took part in waking us up and changing our world! They demonstrated many qualities and attitudes we learn about when we embark on our own personal Yogic Journey of Transformation.

I invite you all to beat the Post Olympic Depression by trying a Yoga class here at Inner Sanctum - as I say Get Fit, Flexible and Have Fun - Get the Feel Good Factor! You will be pleasantly surprised at the results.

I strive to create a safe, intimate space here bringing people together in a small Yogic community - come and join us!

Also within your own personal world - home and work -  keep up that sense of Community and Connection that the Olympics Fever began. Let the momentum continue and lets build on it together - a new world!

Om Shanti

'Find that still point within' - a point of inner peace, calm, balance, harmony, joy and serenity - Inner Sanctum.

Here you will find advice, tips, techniques, quotes and ideas for 'living life in a Yogic way' and move towards a life well lived.

Yoga has been the mainstay of my life for many, many years, being my support and 'life raft' I have rowed in, and at times, clung to, when lifes sea currents became very turbulent and choppy.

At different times in our lives we need different therapies and approaches to aid our health and well being - either as a preventative measure, or to heal. Coupled with yoga, I have turned to, and trained in, a variety of complementary therapies and healing modalities, the knowledge and information learnt and gleaned, I will also be sharing here over the coming months.

I have also created an Inner Sanctum Yoga & Therapies Group page on facebook - please feel free to post questions there or comment here.

You will note the Sunflower on this page and my flyers - reminds me of the sun, Summer, yellow, vitality, Joy and one of my favourite postures is 'Surya pushpam' - heart and body stretching, like the sunflower opening up to the sun high in the sky overhead, warming, healing rays shining down re-energising the chakras, relaxing the physical body, tension melting away. My rising sign is Leo ruled by the sun and my first yoga studio opened on a Leo New Moon :-) new beginnings, new opportunities - very timely!

Om shanti, shanti, shanti
